Michael F. Angelo, CISSP, CRISC, is the Chief Security Architect for NetIQ and is currently responsible for the definition of the secure development process and numerous product certifications.

Michael has been designing, developing, implementing and deploying security products and architectures in multi-national corporate environments for more than thirty years. This includes over twenty years participating, driving, and creating security standards and over fifteen years working on corporate policy, national and international legislation, and multi-national regulatory issues.

Michael is very active in the security community and participates in numerous international and national advisory councils. Currently, he chairs the ISSA International Webinar Committee, is a technology contributor to the U.S. Department of Commerce Information Systems Technical Advisory Council, (ISTAC) and is the co-chair of a working group striving to change the current security export regulations. Michael has been on the RSA international symposia committee from 2012 through 2014. He has also been a featured speaker at numerous national and international security conferences, including RSA, ISSA, and InfoSec. 

Michael currently holds 53 U.S. patents (77 World Wide), with the majority being in the area of security and authentication; he is a former Sigma-Xi distinguished lecturer where he was recognized for his work on Security vs. Privacy; New Threats for Security in Large Scale Systems; and Access Authentication Technologies—Technology Issues and Concerns. He was also recognized as the “2003 Inventor of the Year” for the City of Houston, and received a Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA) lifetime achievement award. In 2011 he was recognized by ISSA as the Security Professional of the Year.  Then in 2013 he was added to the ISSA Hall of Fame.
