NetIQ Central Europe Martin Kuppinger, Principal Analyst at Kuppinger Cole and Jim Taylor, Vice President Identity and Security Management at NetIQ will discuss how to provide what Business really needs, based on your existing Identity Management and Access Governance infrastructure. This workshop is about the path from todays technology- and tool-focused, common approaches on IAM (Identity and Access Management) and IAG (Identity and Access Governance) towards an approach, which supports the requirements of business for Information Security on one hand, but also the Agility to meet new business requirements.

In this workshop, you will learn about how to support the core business needs: Agility and Speed, better Service Levels and Compliance, and Cost Savings. That is about enhancing your infrastructure to support new groups of users including the masses of customers you might have; it is about supporting mergers and acquisitions; about the needs of time-to-market for new business services which are secure by design anyhow; and it is about many more of these business requirements.

The KuppingerCole IT Model is about enabling an IT which supports the real business needs. This workshop is about what you need in IAM and IAG to do so. The workshop will contain architecture blueprints, real world scenarios and best practices, how companies can adopt and maximize the concept of Identity Services enabled by Identity and Access Governance models and technologies. This workshop will help organizations establish a common platform for service delivery, dynamically adapt to business requirements, react to changing service level requirements and reduce the overall IT management burden.

Most organizations have some Identity and Access Management infrastructure in place. However, requirements are changing. The business requests services which are tailored to the business needs. That’s one of the reasons for the recent rise of Access Governance, with these tools more and more becoming the entry point for business users. However, even they are IT-centric and business will require more. Other fundamental changes are driven by the new (and still changing) role of the Cloud, by the consumerization of IT and the trend towards mobile devices. So IAM has to integrate customers and other groups of users which have been out of scope in most projects. It has to deal with social networks and the “authentication” of users there. It has to deal with different deployment models for IT services, from classical on-premise to the public Cloud. And not to forget about BYOD and other trends.

The concept of the “API Economy” which in fact is about fine-granular services instead of big, fat, and monolithic SaaS and other Cloud services, is another aspect to look at. All these changes will require a fundamentally different, service-based concept of IAM and IAG.

Simply said: The on-premise, employee-centric environment most IAM infrastructures have been built for is not what we only should look at anymore. IAM infrastructures have to be extended to support all these new requirements.
